The Irish Corporate Law Forum is an independent members-based organisation which aims to promote the discussion of legal issues of practical and academic concern relating to corporate law and corporate governance in Ireland.
As befits the nature of a Forum, ICLF seminars and conferences provide timely guidance and debate on a wide range of topical matters of relevance to corporate law and governance practice.
Events are carefully planned to match the needs of members and speakers are carefully selected by the Director for their professional expertise and presentation skills. An emphasis is placed on the importance of providing high quality visuals and take-home materials and in a members’ online ICLF library.

The forum was founded by Dr Deirdre Ahern, an Assistant Professor and Fellow in company law and commercial law at Trinity College Dublin. With a background as a commercial solicitor and principal officer in the Law Reform Commission, Deirdre has made significant contributions to corporate law through national and international publications, research, and legal commentary. She is the author of Directors’ Duties: Law and Practice (Round Hall, 2009) and a contributing editor to Gore-Browne on Companies.

Compliance with corporate law obligations is closely associated with knowledge of relevant legal obligations, the existence of effective sanctions and effective enforcement practices. This seminar will give a unique insight into the enforcement strategies of the Registrar of Companies and the Director of Corporate Enforcement in presentations by these office-holders.

As the Companies Bill 2012 moves to Report stage in the Dáil, and is expected to be enacted in the course of 2014, a conference of the Irish Corporate Law Forum will focus on the practical ramifications of changes to the structure and internal governance of private companies. Preparing Private Companies for the Companies Bill: New Company Forms and Drafting Company Constitutions will be held on Friday 7 February 2014 in Dublin Castle.
